Sports medicine man, Dr. Blane Chong

Sports medicine physicians have always promoted health, fitness and ensured the safety and well-being of everyone who participates in athletic competition. The history of Sports Medicine runs directly parallel to the history of the profession of athletic training. Hard working, self-taught men who truly practiced the philosophy of "laying on the hands" characterized the early years. The middle years saw the introduction of professionally trained personnel and new technologies. Now, a highly trained curriculum for medical graduates, utilizing state of the art equipment and techniques, educates today's doctors.
Blane Chong, M.D. is the team sports medical physician for Chaminade University and other athletic schools and events throughout the islands. He paddles, kayaks, surfs and is a power lifter. Athletic. His Hawaiian heritage, wit and a deep personal understanding of his athletes' needs are invaluable to all the athletes he serves. Dr. Chong is a graduate of Kamehameha School. He attended the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine. After completing his internship, residency and fellowship on the west coast he returned home to open a family and sports medicine practice.
"You have to treat the whole person," said Dr. Chong, whose practice includes newborn babies to seniors.
