Stroller Strides Offers Fitness for Moms

You're up at 6 A.M. and it's time to get ready for school, work or a busy day with the kids. Then you have ballet, soccer practice, dinner, baths and bed. And by then you're suffering total exhaustion. Many moms are busy taking care of everyone except themselves. Exercise is important not only for the myriad of health reasons but it's great for relieving stress, and too often it is not made a priority.

The new wave of fitness is being able to bring your children with you to exercise. Stroller Strides and the Oahu Club have caught on to this new fitness trend and implemented such programs. The classes are designed in a circuit training style that incorporates cardio-respiratory exercise with resistance training, providing a total body workout each time. Plus the classes are taught by certified fitness instructors who are also moms.

Here are my top five reasons for trying a mommy and baby workout class:
  1. You get to get out of the house and enjoy the beauty and fresh air we have here in Hawaii.
  2. Spend time with your kids; show them the sights and sounds of your neighborhood: dogs, buses, etc.
  3. Gain functional Strength. Have more energy doing everyday activities like grocery shopping and chasing after your children.
  4. Overall health and physical appearance. Look great and reduce your chance for getting diabetes, and coronary artery disease. Lower blood pressure, cholesterol and risk for some cancers.
  5. Meet other moms. Let the kids play after class while chit chatting with other moms.
