Kahala Nui turns Two Kahala Nui, a senior living community in Waialae Kahala, celebrated its second anniversary last month. Kahala Nui employs 220 people and is currently home to 372 residents who reside in its 260 apartments. "It has been a remarkable two years of growth," said Marilyn Israel, Kahala Nui's Executive Director. "We have built a strong sense of ohana here at Kahala Nui, as well as building our reputation as a provider of exceptional retirement living within the Honolulu community," she added. Since opening in February 2005, Kahala Nui has filled rapidly and it is currently over 95 percent occupied. To keep up with its expanding population, Kahala Nui now offers 30 exercise classes per week, from Pilates to hula, and 17 non-exercise classes per week, such as ukulele lessons, crafts and computer classes. Kahala Nui residents can also attend a variety of informational sessions, featuring both resident and outside speakers, who discuss a wide range of subjects, from health and travel to history and film. |
