Diamond Head Crater Celebration Returns to 1969 Roots
Archived May 2007 article
The Diamond Head Crater Celebration on May 19 returns to its 1969 roots with the announcement of a $69 general admission ticket, according to producer Ron Gibson.
The not-to-be-missed 2007 Diamond Head Crater Celebration, presented by Sprint Hawaii together with Nextel, showcases the talents of Earth, Wind and Fire; the world premiere of Mick Fleetwood's Island Rumours Band with such local talents as Willie K, Eric Gilliom and Raiatea Helm among its members; Greg Rolie, the original voice of Santana; Hawaii's own Yvonne Elliman with a new 10-piece band assembled for the occasion; and an opening ceremony of music and dance by the Polynesian Cultural Center.
The $69 general admission tickets went on sale Wednesday, April 25, at all Times Supermarket Ticketmaster outlets, the Blaisdell Box Office, toll free at 1-877-750-4400 and online at www.ticketmaster.com. Those with general admission tickets are allowed to bring low-back beach chairs into the Crater. Reserved seats also are available, newly priced at $99, plus previously announced tickets costing $135, $150 and $175, with applicable service charges. All tickets include reserved parking at convenient auxiliary lots and roundtrip shuttle into the Crater in order to minimize the environmental impact. No walk-ins will be allowed.
"We are calling everyone who previously bought a general admission ticket and are offering them a free upgrade to a reserved seat," said Gibson. "Anyone not reached personally may call our information line or go onto the website to get their adjustment. We will make these adjustments at a Courtesy Booth on site at the Crater on the day of the event."
