Scholarships Awarded to Outstanding Seniors

The Mamoru and Aiko Takitani Foundation, Inc. has awarded scholarships to 59 exceptional seniors at every qualifying public and private high school in Hawaii. The scholarships were presented at a June 16 awards luncheon.

Zoe Morrison, of Punahou School, was the recipient of the Mamoru Takitani Distinguished Student Award of $10,000. Ruth Chen, of Iolani School, was the recipient of the Aiko Takitani Distinguished Student Award of $10,000. Mary Guo, of Roosevelt High School, was the recipient of the Karen Uno Outstanding Student Award of $5,000.

East Oahu school's recipients of $1,000 scholarships:

Honolulu District: Vivian Lin of Kaiser High School; Michael Pettis of Kaimuki High School; Lindsey Potter of Kalani High School; Jerrold Wu of University Laboratory School.

Hawaii Association of Independent Schools: Dawn Greene of Mid-Pacific Institute; Jasmine Kimura of La Pietra-Hawaii School for Girls.

Hawaii Catholic Schools: Matthew Chee of Maryknoll School; Veronica Chiu of Sacred Hearts Academy.
