"Malama" it is... The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) announced its school outreach initiative, part of the DOT's Oahu Storm Water Management Program (Oahu SWMP). They introduced its SWMP mascot "Malama," a humuhumunukunukuapua'a. Malama's name was chosen by elementary school students who participated in a contest sponsored by HDOT. More than 800 students participated, and 15 of them independently chose the name Malama. |
