Rice has been cultivated since ancient times and was introduced to India before the time of the Greeks. Records of rice cultivation go back 4,000 years. The words for agriculture and for rice in many cultures are synonymous; indicating that rice was already the staple crop at the time the language was taking form.
Kazu Kawano, president of www.g-call.com, began his business by offering premium planning and retail telecommunication services and information. When his clients outside of Japan began asking how they could get authentic Japanese products, Kawano established a web-based catalog business that supplies authentic premium goods from Japan. One such item is rice. "It is important to continue to offer value and services to our customers that bridge the gap between Japan and other destinations," said Kawano. "And as a web-base company we deliver products directly to the home."
"In view of high concern over safety of food and also due to increased demand for authentic Japanese products, the very famous 'Minami Uonuma-san Koshihikari' brand, which is considered 'Japan's pride' for premier rice, is already highly popular and very much in demand among affluent Japanese living here in Hawaii," Kawano continued. "In the old days in Japan, our ancestors celebrated and appreciated the new harvest every fall; and rice growing has shaped Japanese culture, which can be seen in the many traditional harvest rites and festivals."
"At the Japanese Cultural Center on November 18th, we want to share with others while enjoying tasty food, so G-Call will contribute to the community and children through this charity event." In preparation for a New Harvest Tasting Festival, G-Call is planning on bringing 2,000 sets of half-kilogram packs of rice to give away this fall again. However, this year G-Call will issue a coupon for the rice give-away.
G-Call shopping items at www.g-call.com include: water, fish, meat, rice, flowers, gifts, wine, office supplies, airline tickets, package tours, NTT products, books and magazines, WOWOW, English education tools, US-CPA programs, automobiles and life insurance.
