The Queen's Medical Center's Queen Emma Nursing Institute (QENI) and the University of Hawaii's School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene (SONDH) signed a memorandum establishing a new cooperative research partnership aimed at developing knowledge to improve health outcomes and support the delivery of the highest quality nursing care.

The program will partner Queen's nurses with leading faculty at SONDH. The nurses will conduct research studies on a variety of prevention, treatment and rehabilitation-related practices in several departments within the hospital.

In attendance, University of Hawaii Chancellor Virginia Hinshaw and Queen's Medical Center President Art Ushijima congratulated the nurses and kicked off the partnership, creating a joint vision for the future of nursing in Hawaii.

The SONDH-QENI partnership is committing approximately $50,000-60,000 in the fiscal year 2007-2008 to support this endeavor and fund new grants.
